OBJECTIVE

The objective of this assignment is to create three book jackets from a writer and tie in a concept that does not reflect the story in a literal sense. Must be unified and pay attention to typography, color, composition, and legibility. Tie in theme of train station,the action of different paths we take and how to be more aware of our surroundings.

SOLUTION

I tied in the action of reading and waiting at the train station and that idea of searching. Themes include fragmentation of time / space are apparent throughout his short stories so the overall structure of the covers appear to be more more chaotic. This makes the viewer look closer. The deconstruction of cardboard helps refer to the mundane elements in life and how we complex life truly is. Thus the layers also reflect the narration of Borges writing style. II incorporated more hands on elements such as painting and illustration in order to emphasis the idea of re -creating or piecing information together from the past, present, and foreshadowing of the future.
