OBJECTIVE

To create a poster that only uses Palatino typeface and explores space, color, weight, line, size, amongst other elements and principles of design. Must include historical information and full alphabet. This old-style serif typeface was designed by Hermann Zapf, soon after the destruction of WWII, in which countries all over were slowly recovering. Influence in forming the basis of the desktop revolution.

SOLUTION

I’ve used traditional German hues along with several other hues such as blue to resemble a refreshing look. Type was layered upon other shapes and type in order to provide a sense of ‘transition”. The overlapping of specific letters, emphasizes the primary characteristics such as serifs found throughout each letter, number, and symbol. I also attempt to portray a curvilinear sense of movement with variations of weight.
